How to Install RustDesk on Windows
What is RustDesk?
RustDesk is a tool that lets someone connect to and control your computer from a distance. It’s like letting a trusted friend or IT professional “look at your screen” to help you fix problems or install software. But remember, this is only safe if you trust the person you’re sharing your computer with!
⚠️ Important: ⚠️
- Never give your RustDesk ID or password to someone you don’t trust.
- Think before you share! No one from GBIT Automation will ever pressure you to use RustDesk or share your ID and password.
- If you feel unsure about sharing access, it’s okay to say no and ask for help in a different way.
Follow these steps to download and install RustDesk on your Windows computer:
- Open Your Web Browser: Click on your browser icon (like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox).
- Go to the RustDesk Website: Visit https://rustdesk.com.
- Find the Download Button: Look for the "Download" button on the page.
- Check If Your Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit:
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard (or click the Start button).
- Type "System" into the search bar and press Enter.
- Look for System type under the Device specifications section.
- This will show one of the following:
- 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor: Your system runs 32-bit software but supports 64-bit. Download the 32-bit version.
- 32-bit operating system: Your system only supports 32-bit software. Download the 32-bit version.
- 64-bit operating system: Your system supports 64-bit software. Download the 64-bit version.
- Choose the Correct Version:
- If you have a 32-bit system, click the "Download" link under the Windows section on the RustDesk page.
- If you have a 64-bit system, download the EXE or MSI file for 64-bit Windows.
- Save the File: When prompted, click Save or OK to download the file.
- Run the File: After the download, double-click the file (e.g., rustdesk.exe) to launch the installer.
- Install the Program: If you chose the MSI file, follow the setup steps and click Next to complete the installation.
- Open RustDesk: Locate the RustDesk icon on your desktop or start menu and double-click to open it.
