About Gavin
G'day, I'm Gavin
I'm the bloke behind GBIT Automation. Based in Perth, Western Australia, I help business owners stop wasting money on software they already pay for — and start getting real value out of it.
After 29+ years in industry — and a lifetime around computers — GBIT is how I bring those two worlds together.

How GBIT started
GBIT came out of a redundancy. After 14 years with a pump manufacturer, I was suddenly out of a job and started looking around. What I noticed surprised me: business after business was paying for Microsoft licences they barely used. Powerful tools sitting idle. Money going out the door for nothing in return.
I hate seeing people waste money. So I founded GBIT Automation in 2024 with a simple idea — help businesses get the most out of what they already own.
It grew from there. What began as “let me help you use your Microsoft licensing properly” has become automation, AI training, custom apps and SharePoint implementations for businesses of all shapes and sizes.
The thread that ties it all together
I've spent 29+ years across industrial, mining and manufacturing — customer service, branch coordination, quality, sales, management, purchasing, inventory control. On paper that's a long way from Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform. In practice, it's the same skill: figuring out how work actually gets done, and making it better.
Computers have been part of my life since I was about eight. My three older brothers were all in the game — two industrial control engineers and a CPA who's now big in the tech world — so I grew up around it. Commodore 64s, dial-up modems, mucking around in DOS, networking machines together for fun. I've never been afraid of computers, and never been afraid of making mistakes with them.
That's the thread. Every job I've had — whatever the title — I brought the tech with me. It's what got me noticed, and what got me promoted. Now it's what I do full-time for other businesses.
How I work
A few things I believe pretty strongly.
If I can point you somewhere better, I will.
If there's a free tool or a smarter path that doesn't involve hiring me, I'll tell you. Long-term trust beats short-term billing every time.
Smart, not hard.
I don't agree with doing things the hard way when there's a smarter way. I like saving time. I like things to be easy.
Most processes have never been thought about — they've just been practised.
They get put in place once, then everyone follows them forever. I love pulling them apart and asking “why are we doing it like this?” Usually you can cut steps out, and almost always you can take the human out of the boring bits — except where a real decision needs a real person. Those gates stay.
Who I work with
Honestly, just about anyone. I've helped homeowners with one annoying problem, and I've worked with multinational enterprise. In between there's been not-for-profits, finance and broking firms, construction companies, government, and plenty of small-to-medium businesses with big employee counts in the field.
The common thread isn't industry or size — it's a business that's ready to look at how it works and improve it.
A project I'm proud of
A construction client came to me drowning in employee onboarding. New starters meant chasing forms, licences, uniform sizes, sign-offs — across multiple systems, always waiting on someone.
I built them an onboarding app that pulled SMS, web forms, SharePoint and AI together into one flow. New employees fill out everything they need to from their phone. The internal team only hears about it when there's an actual decision to make. If something's wrong, the employee can flag it instantly from inside the app.
Less chasing. Less guessing. Better onboarding experience for the new starter, less admin load for the team. That's the kind of work I love.
Outside of work
Family man, first and always. Loyal to the people around me. I've got time for everyone — doesn't matter how big or small, what culture, what background. Everyone deserves a fair go.
And I love my sport.
What's next for GBIT
- DocuMerge — A document automation product launching for beta in June 2026.
- AI agents — Bringing these in as both a product and a service for clients.
- Hosting services — Likely on the cards too — managed hosting for the apps we build.
